Ubuntu is now fully installed on my HP nx6325.
To do this I needed to boot the live CD with the no-apic switch. Thanks to this guide for the nx6125.
- The caddy has ext3 file system
- Windows has ext3 drivers to access caddy and ubuntu’s partition (U:)
- /home/martin is mapped to be the same folder as My Documents
- Ubuntu has full read/write NTFS drivers for accessing C:
- Flash and java are installed
- Kopete is installed and webcam is working both ways (albeit with a very dark picture - why won’t they make some proper drivers)
- Outlook and Thunderbird both connect to the mail servers via IMAP so they both contain the same data
- All MP3, DVD, WMA codecs are installed and working
- Wireless networking is working at 11mbit (I can see Bursary8 exists)
- OpenOffice has a Access Database plugin that doesnt quite work
- SSH and SFTP to the Thom Lab at uni are set up and my home folder in the Thom Lab is mounted as a network drive
- Wine Windows API layer installed

Hi all
Today after being rudely awoken by parents (but getting them to pay for the matriculation photo so I’ll let them off) and having lectures on Calculus of One Variable, Linear Programming and doing some work, and speaking to Davesta on msn about his latest problems it had suddenly become 2:30am. Shocking!!!!
I tried (and failed) today to install captive NTFS read/write drivers on ubuntu. Any help and I’ll be your friend for life.

Hi all
Today I had 2 lectures - Discrete Maths and Functional Programming in Haskell - both Ok really. I then tried to do a bit more of that pesky calculus sheet and no it isn’t done yet.
At 3pm I went to Brookes to borrow their climbing wall till 6pm with OUMC. I then went to the Physics Soc introduction at Oriel then to Compsoc at Keble.
Compsoc’s Guest Speakers today were from EA Games, and they spoke for 2 and a bit hours on how they develop games and about careers.
Still on Ubuntu. Gonna go read stories
